Every blogger knows the benefit of comment on another blog. It helps you with the backlink, branding, idea generation, experience, relationship and many other benefits. But, there has one problem too when leaving a comment on another blog. If you don’t know where to control between self-promotion and quality comment, the result may end up with the loss of your reputation and branding.
Comment on another blog is the concept of self-promoting or showcase yourself. So there is no shame if you drop your backlink there. But, instead of the quantity, you should focus on quality. Give a value to your comment and make a strong relationship with fellow bloggers and other commentators. Or else you may end your blogging career as a spammer.
Here I am trying to point out what you should do and not to do as commentators. How not to hurt your branding and become a better commentator. How to add value to your comment and not end up the career as a spammer. But, before going in-depth let’s understand the type of commentators.
Type of Commentators
There are a few commentators who add value to your post but in other hands few not at all. Let’s divided them into categories. So we can understand their motivation and nature.
- Pure Spammer:
We all know them. They are everywhere. If you don’t have spam filter they will spam your every post with irrelevant and keyword based comments. They are auto-generated spam. Drop backlink and not relevant to your post.
- Self-promoter spammer:
This kind of commentators is at least better than those auto-generated spammers. This type of spammers write manually, sometimes slightly relevant to your post. But instead of the real names they use keywords or company name. Drop backlink and add no value to your post.
- No value commentators:
They don’t drop links, nor add value to your post. Just leave one line comment. Make no sense or no feeling.
- Valuable self-promoter:
This is the type of us – bloggers seeking for the do-follow backlink. We comment on another blog, purely relevant to the article and drop our relevant link there. We are there to build our profile and relationship.
- Valuable commentator:
They are your loyal readers – sometimes “shy” bloggers too. They comment relevant and add value to your post, but don’t drop any link.
Now we know what type of commentators we are and where should we need to focus. Let’s now discuss how to add value to your comment and create a better profile.

How to add value to your comments
Time to know how to comment effectively. Also, how to reply a post with genuine, safe, relevant comment that not only benefit you but your fellow bloggers and readers too.
First of all, read the post completely so when you can know how much relevant your comment to the article. Try to say where you agree, where you not and where you have a question in your mind. Also, add something you might think they missed the post.
If want to add any link, make sure it is relevant to the article and useful for readers. Show you care about your comment, add some passion and humor too. If the comment system allows you to format text and add images, use them but don’t overdo it. Link not only your blog but also other relevant blogs too.
Be an early bird, post your comment as fast as possible. If you use any idea of the post to your work, show it there. Don’t care about length as long as it relevant to the article, but don’t make it one big block of text.
So this is all you can do when you are writing a comment on other blogs. All the above tips help you to become a better commentator.
